Park Guide

Conducts basic research of topics for the purpose of providing interpretive programs, both orally and/or in writing. Presents a variety of formal and informal programs including orientation talks, environmental education programs, conducted walks, canoe/kayak tours, demonstrations, and story times at the park and in the local community. Informs visitors about park facilities, resources, and local area. Operates a variety of audiovisual and other equipment used in connection with interpretive material, e.g., projectors, laptops, iPads and video equipment. Staffs a visitor center, which includes a cooperating association bookstore. You will conduct canoe and kayak tours and will conduct roving activities on the park's waterways. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You may work a minimum of 26 weeks (13 pay periods) but generally not more than 50 weeks (25 pay periods) per calendar year. You will be in a non-pay status from approximately 6/6/2021 to 6/19/2021. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect either full-time or 40 hours per week. To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as:
oral presentation of historical, scientific, or program information to groups; or developing and/or revising technical, historical, or scientific information for oral presentation to groups. Examples of specialized experience could include Park Guide or tour leader; museum or observatory guide, docent, naturalist; environmental educator or teacher; teaching assistant; or other similar work. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION:
Successfully completed four years of study above high school (120 semester hour or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation, such as American history, science, public speaking, parks and recreation, education or communications. Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
